GET BEHIND THE PEOPLE BEHIND YOUR SPORT

The Sport Volunteer Awards offer a simple way for Kiwis to recognise not just coaches but all 800,000 volunteers at the heart of New Zealand community sport – referees, administrators, fundraisers, kit-washers, coaches – the lot!

We all know that sport is a huge part of Northland communities and often plays an important role in many people’s lives. For those that don’t do much to say thanks or even those that do, the awards provide a great opportunity to say ‘Thanks’ for all that our sport volunteers do to make sport happen.

Help us ensure the volunteers important to your sport get the thanks they deserve. Promote the Sport Volunteer Awards on your website and social media, in your newsletters and publications, and any other communications.

There are also some great prizes to be won including a $250 petrol voucher prize which is up for grabs for the school or club who gets in behind the awards the best. They need to show us or tells us how they’re getting in behind the awards by promoting and getting nominations and they go in the draw.

HOW TO NOMINATE
From 18 June 2012, any member of the public can nominate a sport volunteer at http://volunteers.sportnz.org.nz/

With each nomination, a thank-you e-card is created which goes directly to the nominee. It will include a personal message from the person who nominated them. Alternatively, hard copy nomination forms are available at your local regional sports trust offices.

Nominations close midnight, 28 August 2012, with each regional sports trust choosing and announcing three overall winners after that.
